The companies will leverage X-ray and AI-based technologies to target batteries and non-conforming materials, which cause equipment damage, system downtime, and fire risks in MRFs.
San Diego, CA – November 5, 2025– CP Group, a leader in advanced recycling system design and manufacturing, announced a strategic alliance with Cisek Inspections to develop and deploy new and innovative X-ray scanning and automated extraction systems for Materials Recovery Facilities (MRFs).
Under this exclusive agreement, the companies will integrate the Cisek Inspections X-ray detection and AI identification technology with CP Group’s extraction equipment and control systems. This combination targets and removes non-program materials from waste streams before they cause equipment damage or safety incidents.
“We are very excited to partner with Cisek Inspections to develop such a relevant solution to the industry’s needs,” said Richard Coupland, SVP of Strategy and Growth at CP Group. “We know that the ideal operational solution needs to maintain system uptime and remove targeted material without slowing or stopping the conveyor, which is where the development expertise at CPG will really shine.”
The technology specifically addresses two critical operational challenges in MRFs: mechanical damage from non-program contaminants such as car parts, construction debris, chains, cables, and rigid materials that can tear conveyor belts and damage sorting equipment. Additionally, it enables a solution to address fire risks from lithium-ion batteries that have caused significant fire damage and poses a danger across the industry.
Using advanced X-Ray technology with AI trained models, operators will be able to use the solution to configure which materials they want to target for removal, based on their specific operational risks and equipment vulnerabilities in their local MRF stream.
“We were looking for the right partner to enter the waste industry and CP Group was the clear choice. Their combination of technical expertise and customer focus fit perfectly with our approach at Cisek Inspections,” said Richard Cisek, CEO and founder of Cisek Inspections. “We look forward to pairing our deep knowledge in X-ray with CPG’s long-term expertise in providing solutions to MRFs around the world.”
CP Group is currently working with early adopters to finalize system configurations, with initial installations planned for early 2026.
